Specialist for knees and ankles
Prof. Philipp Niemeyer is an internationally acknowledged specialist for knee and ankle joint surgery with a special focus on the possibility of joint preservation. Before becoming a senior physician at the OCM, he worked for more than 15 years at the university in Freiburg - ending up as the director of the department for knee joint and cartilage surgery. The range of treatments offered by Prof. Niemeyer include not only the medical care of complex injuries to knee joints but also the treatment of cartilage damage as well as early arthrosis and the “partial” replacement of knee joints. His credo: “Science is the motor for innovation – this is the way we learn how to care for our patients.“ Knowing and employing the complete spectrum of innovative techniques helps us offer the best and most appropriate therapy for the person affected.”
Prof. Niemeyer has written more than 200 academic publications in international journals and contributed to over 30 books. He is a founding director of the German Knee Society (DKG) and Chairman of the “Tissue Regeneration” Working Group of the German Society for Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery (DGOU). He is also a team physician for the German Ski Association.
